Benoît Frydman

Pr. Dr. Benoît Frydman (born in 1965), JD, PHD, LLM, is Professor at the University of Brussels and the Director of the Perelman’s Centre for Legal Philosophy.

Benoit Frydman is also Professor at the European Academy for Legal Theory. I was visiting research fellow at Oxford University (Centre for Socio-Legal Studies, Wolfson College) (2001-2002), visiting Professor at the department of Philosophy of U. Paris 1 Sorbonne (2007), recurrent visiting professor at the law Faculty of U. Paris 12 (2005-2008) and recurrent visiting lecturer at the European Master in Human Rights and Democratization (2001-2005). He is visiting professor at the Faculty of Law of U. Paul Cézanne – Aix Marseille III.

Benoit Frydman is also a former Member of the Superior Council of Justice (Belgium) (2004-2008). He co-chaired the Commission for the Reform of the jury system in Belgium (2004-2005).

Benoit Frydman specializes in Legal Philosophy and Jurisprudence. His research deals mainly with, on the one hand, global law and the transformations of contemporary law, and, on the other hand, legal reasoning, argumentation and interpretation as well as the history of legal thought. Most of its papers are available online on this website.
