Ana Maria Corrêa

Ana is a PhD candidate at the Université Libre de Bruxelles and research fellow at the Perelman Center. She holds a Law Master Degree from the Université Aix-Marseille III (France) and studied European Human Rights at the European University Institute (Italy). A 2015 recipient of the CAPES foundation grant, her doctoral research is at the intersection of law and technology focusing on the ethical governance of private companies on the topic of discrimination. Her research centers on algorithmic and designed discrimination and aims to determine whether Europe and Member States law are equipped to address discrimination in the provision of goods and services online. Her sources include private company practices, private anti-discrimination policies, collective and private litigation, court decisions, public regulation at the EU and some Member State levels.
She has been visiting lecturer at Université Libre de Bruxelles in the Comparative Law Course & at Goethe Universitat Frankfurt in the Global Law Theories course. She curates legal governance developments for Geneva Internet Platform/ Digital Watch Observatory. She is member of the Council for European Studies and the Internet Society Association. She coordinated the Equality Law Clinic at the Université Libre de Bruxelles in 2016-2017.
